Legislative and Lobbying efforts take place throughout the year. The association includes attorney-lobbyists who assist in accomplishing the membership’s legislative/regulatory agenda and in representing UWC before Congress, executive agencies, national forums, and the news media. UWC is the only organization with a legislative/regulatory program dedicated solely to watching out for the interests of the business community on national UI and WC issues. In addition, UWC is the only national business information resource for organizations who lobby on UI and WC issues at the state level.
Technical Assistance on key UI and WC issues includes interpretation of the Federal Unemployment Tax Act, DOL policies on state UI requirements, as well as details on state UI and WC laws and UI tax schedules. UWC maintains a website at www.UWCstrategy.org to provide additional assistance to our members.
Affiliation and Liaison efforts include partnerships with organizations who share common goals, and liaison with Department of Labor leadership and state UI and WC officials.
Conferences cover entry level and advanced claims and tax administration and complex legal and management issues. UWC’s National Foundation sponsors the acclaimed annual National UI Issues Conference, with leading edge topics and presenters from business, government, and academia. Attendees typically receive up to 11.5 APA and 11.0 HRCI units.
Professional Growth is a benefit to members, through volunteer service on UWC’s UI and WC Committees, Board of Directors, and the Board of Trustees of UWC’s National Foundation.
